    Plaquenil rebound

But there also has to be something negative going on if it's making my hair fall out! mshistory - I know what you're saying is ALL true. I won't let things go to long like this, but I am hoping this is just some sort of rebound effect and that things will level off. I need to find a new one, but with 2 small kids and work full time, who has the time?! like i said i have super thick hair so i still have have a good amount but its def not super super thick like it once was. for those of you losing hair loss-lets be like Dolly Parton and all these other stars and wear wigs! It was making me feel better in other ways -no doubt. As for the psychologist, I did try that over the summer, but was not impressed by the one I was going to. If you remember, most wait at least 3 months before they even see any improvement. i lost a bunch of hair the 1st 4 months and now it has steadied off... along with the extreme dry patchy skin that bleads and all my lovely knew wrinkles along my eyes from doing warm compresses , massage and drops!!! this disease sure takes a toll52 yr old Sj S, APS w/strokes, Autonomic Neuropathy, PN, Nephrogenic DI, (CVID) Ig G def., Cushing's, Asthma, Gastroparesis.

Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is a drug that is classified as an anti-malarial drug. Plaquenil is prescribed for the treatment or prevention of malaria. It is also prescribed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and the side effects of lupus such as hair loss, joint pain, and more. Plaquenil is sometimes given only once per week. Choose the same day each week to take this medicine if you are on a weekly dosing schedule. Take Plaquenil with a meal or a glass of milk. To prevent malaria Start taking Plaquenil 2 weeks before entering an area where malaria is common. Continue taking the medicine regularly during your stay. I thought methotrexate was stronger and had harder side effects??? Being 32 and feeling like I'm way too young to be dealing with any of this but trying to find my way through it BTW, seeing a psychiatrist and dealing with my depression and anxiety seriously saved my life. And your hair is growing back even while you're still on 200 a day? I wonder if what you're noticing is really the change in dose. You need to decided what is more important..or health.52 yr old Sj S, APS w/strokes, Autonomic Neuropathy, PN, Nephrogenic DI, (CVID) Ig G def., Cushing's, Asthma, Gastroparesis. If you feel really overwhelmed by all of this, it might be something to consider. now i still have quite a bit of hair but plaquenil made me lose a lot.. I'm wondering if 400 a day is just too much for some of us to handle? I say this because Plaquenil has a chemical half-life of 30-60 days (you can confirm this on wiki or RX info on the drug)--so it takes a LONG time to get out of your system..long for you to notice changes in days. whenever i take something new i think i get a weird side effect--but then again could it just be part of a flare...ughhhhh..

Hello all, I am currently new to this site and ran across the discussion about stopping Plaquenil. I have been taking Plaquenil for about 8-9 months and thought that it was not helping me because I still have a fair amount of joint pain, fatigue, muscle pain and so many other issues. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is considered a disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drug DMARD. It can decrease the pain and swelling of arthritis. It may prevent joint damage and reduce the risk of long-term disability. Hydroxychloroquine is in a class of medications that was first used to prevent and treat malaria. Happily, going off plaquenil quelled the worst of my psoriasis, so the overall trade-off was eventually worth it for me. It wasn't very clear from your post whether it was the primary care doctor or the rheumatologist who wants him to decrease the plaquenil.
