    Will tamoxifen stop my periods

I was diagnosed with BC in may had lumpectomy and have 2 rounds of radiotherapy left to go WHOOOO.... have been on Tamoxifen for 3 weeks now and my mood swings have been really up and down.... Im 46 and still had very regular periods before cancer , On Sunday I had my first one since Tamoxifen and it was painful and very heavy..this ok? I read that Tam would make them lighter and was confused if its takes a long time for them to stop or do they not in some women. Last Friday and Saturday I couldnt stop crying and felt there was nothing to look forward to anymore.. I have a great husband and 3 amazing kids and felt even more upset for feeling like this. I thought at the time it was the Tamoxifen kicking in and thought I was going to feel like this forever. My period stopped while i was on chemo too but it came back after the chemo was over. GONE....after second round of AC, i had an awful, foul sllloooowwww peiord that seem to last about three weeks, and not..... After chemo and rad, I started taking Tamoxifen in 5 years. It really doesnt matter because i like my peiod but i just was wondering. If it's supposed to stop your period - maybe a month isn't long enough just yet. I was diagnosed with breast cancer at the age of 24. Like others here, my chemo included "chemically-induced" menopause (vs. I think you've been taking the Tamoxifen for only about a month? Kind regards, Susan I have been taken Tamoxifen for 10 months from now. I've been through that but my situation was different. Absolutely, your period will stop when you start to take Tamoxifen. Because of my age (too young), my oncologist told me that my period will stop right after I could start on Tamoxifen. In the the beginning (1st month), I was still in a regular period. The second month, third month, fourth month and fifth month, they were all the same. After that, in my sixth month, my period suddenly stopped....until now. So, in my opinion, I think it depends on your body and your age.

Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) has been used for over 40 years to treat hormone-receptor positive early, locally advanced and metastatic breast cancers. Learn about tamoxifen and other hormone therapies for metastatic breast cancer. Hormone receptor-positive breast cancers need estrogen and/or progesterone (female hormones produced in the body) to grow. Tamoxifen attaches to the hormone receptor in the cancer cell, blocking estrogen from attaching to the receptor. This slows or stops the growth of the tumor by preventing the cancer cells from getting the hormones they need to grow. Tamoxifen is a pill taken every day for 5-10 years. For premenopausal women, tamoxifen may be combined with ovarian suppression. The benefits from tamoxifen last long after you stop taking it. We’ve all heard that drinking booze – even in moderation – can bump your risk for breast cancer. As a result, many women and men diagnosed with the disease have either sworn off alcohol entirely or worry when they do imbibe. “I feel guilty often for drinking,” said Maile Feuerman, 40-year-old, stay-at-home mom from Eureka, California, who was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. “I don’t want to have to wonder if it comes back because I did this. But I love my wine.” A new study out of Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center offers a glimmer of good news for those who’ve been diagnosed and treated for the disease: moderate alcohol use after a breast cancer diagnosis won’t lead to a lethal recurrence. Alcohol use among breast cancer survivors has been linked to increased risks of developing a breast cancer recurrence, i.e., finding more cancer in a breast that’s already been diagnosed and, say, had a lumpectomy. Drinking also ups your risk of being diagnosed with a second breast cancer in the opposite “healthy” breast. Gonorrhea is a sexually transmitted, bacterial infection caused by bacteria called: Neisseria gonorrhoeae or gonococcus. You can get infected with gonorrhea by having unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sex or by sharing sex toys (without washing them or covering them with a new condom each time they’re used). It is also possible for women who are pregnant and have gonorrhea to pass the infection on to their baby. The main symptoms of gonorrhea are: pain when passing urine, a discharge from the penis or vagina, and bleeding in between periods (in women). It is reasonably common for people to have gonorrhea and have no symptoms. For this reason, people often have gonorrhea without realising it, so it is worth getting a sexual health check if you have had unprotected sex. The test for gonorrhea is a simple swab test (or a urine sample for men). If you have got it, it can be treated very quickly with a single course of antibiotics.
